The Volunteering and Social Justice Fair

Tuesday 17 October 2017, Academy 1

Wrapround recently attended the Manchester University Volunteering and Social Justice Fair.
This was an incredibly worthwhile event. The turnout by students was surprising, with a constant stream of bright faces from the moment the events started right to the end.
Held at the Manchester Academy on Oxford Road, The event itself was well facilitated, with set up and support was slick and professional. The fair gives an opportunity to for networking with national and local organisations, with over 100 organisations present.
The final head count for students was 1500, with Wraparound meeting well over 100 keen young people interested in helping us out. We were surprised by the range of skills on offer, with students offering us marketing, psychology, administration and data processing help.
We’re currently working with a number of students to identify roles within the organisation to further their careers and give Wraparound a skills boost.

Update 23rd November 2017 – we’re excited to say we’re now working with three very bright and helpful students: Vanessa is helping us with social media and analysing data, we also have two psychology students, Zoe and Isabelle who have been working with us on our nascent Mental Health projects. Zoe and Isabelle will be attending BBC Radio 5 Live’s Mum Takeover with us on 28th November, they’ve helped us look at the hard facts behind maternal mental health and come up with some really probing questions for the panel.
